Lactic Acid (AHA) & Circadian Rhythms
The Alternating Exfoliation Strategy for Blemish-Prone Skin
The treatment of blemish-prone skin frequently relies on daily over-exfoliation, which destroys the skin barrier and exacerbates inflammation. MELANY LAB’s clinical approach is rooted in chronobiology: we align our active ingredients with the skin's circadian rhythms. By day, the skin is in "defense" mode; by night, it enters cellular division. To purify pores and smooth texture without compromising the hydrolipidic film, we have developed a strict alternating exfoliation strategy, powered by a specific high-tolerance AHA: Lactic Acid.
Dermal Protocol & Mechanism
-
Unlike Glycolic Acid (reserved exclusively for our dark spot protocols), Lactic Acid possesses a larger molecular structure.
Gentle Exfoliation: Because it penetrates the epidermis more slowly, it does not trigger the inflammation dreaded by acne-prone skin. Our AHA Peeling Concentrate delivers a clinical 10% concentration of Lactic Acid to dissolve dead cell buildup, refine skin texture, and brighten the complexion, all with exceptional tolerance.
Integrated Hydration: Lactic Acid is the only AHA that also acts as a natural humectant. We have maximized this property by pairing it with 1% Hyaluronic Acid, ensuring that the chemical desquamation process causes no dryness or visible flaking.
-
The efficacy of a chemical peel depends entirely on the timing of its application. MELANY LAB structures its protocols around the skin's biological clock.
The Morning Shield: The Morning Blemish Purifying Protocol deliberately excludes any AHA peeling or renewal serums (like retinol alternatives). In the morning, the skin shifts into a defense mode against pollution and oxidative stress. Applying a potent exfoliant during the day destroys this natural shield and drastically increases photosensitivity.
Nocturnal Regeneration: Cellular renewal peaks between 11 PM and 4 AM. It is only during this critical window, within our Night Blemish Protocol, that the AHA concentrate or Bio-Retinol serum (Bidens Pilosa) are introduced to work in synergy with natural cellular division, without the occlusion of heavy facial oils.
-
To treat blemishes without overwhelming the skin, the architecture of the evening protocol relies on a clinical alternating system (Option A vs. Option B).
Daily Maintenance (Option A): On classic nights, the Purifying Botanical Toner (powered by Salicylic Acid) maintains perfectly clear pores and regulates pH after cleansing. The Retinol Alternative Serum is then applied for continuous cellular renewal.
Targeted Peeling (Option B): For a maximum of 2 to 3 times per week, the toner and serum are replaced by the AHA Peeling Concentrate. The absolute MELANY LAB clinical rule is strict: never layer the BHA Toner, the Bio-Retinol serum, and the AHA Peeling on the same evening. This rigorous alternation guarantees absolute clarity while preserving the total integrity of the cutaneous barrier.

Alternating Exfoliation
True skin clarity is achieved through biological harmony, not daily aggression. By aligning the gentle, hydrating exfoliation of 10% Lactic Acid with your skin's nocturnal circadian rhythms, the MELANY LAB alternating protocol ensures maximum cellular renewal and pore purification without ever compromising your protective barrier.
